About the Future Drainage & Stormwater Networks Abu Dhabi Conference

Due to the region’s unique geographical needs, the GCC has become a world-leader in managing and maximizing their water supply, by implementing new strategies, solutions and cutting-edge technologies.

Countries within the region have extensive development plans for water, as they seek to extend or upgrade their water infrastructure, increasing sustainability and efficiency, to ensure that various governmental visions such as the UAE’s Vision 2021, Saudi Vision 2030, Kuwait Vision 2035 and Oman Vision 2020 are met.

As one of the leading cities in the region, the Abu Dhabi Government aims to:

  • Adequately control Abu Dhabi’s groundwater level, and to ensure that collected stormwater is drained in an efficient manner
  • Maintain the existing drain networks on Abu Dhabi island and suburbs (to begin in 2019)
  • Find non-traditional methods of draining stormwater, especially in remote areas
  • Empowering the private sector to develop sustainable infrastructure that can make use of the ponds created by the collection of excess water

After the great success of the Wet Infrastructure Congress and the 4th Future Drainage and Stormwater Networks Abu Dhabi, the series of events now in their 5th year, will highlight the strategies and plans for designing, constructing, refurbishing, operating and maintaining effective drainage networks, water treatment, coastal restoration for all water assets in the region.
